27nd July 2013: Flintknapping at Hertford Museum

Over 250 people visited the Hertford Museum to watch me do a flintknapping demo as part of the Stone Age re-enactment to mark the Festival of Archaeology, in the beautiful gardens at the back of the building.

I was joined on the day by David Cadle (aka Mr History) who helped the children to have a go at cave painting, dress up, threw spears and arrows and made Caveman Dave puppets.

Learning officer Eleanor Payne said:

"It was a real pleasure to welcome James to Hertford Museum.  His flint knapping demonstrations made the craft look effortless and easy (another story when actually doing it I am sure)!  The objects, equipment and knowledge James brought along are proof that we would not hesitate to book James again in the future."’
