23rd September 2017: Burning the Circle (Arran)

The third Burning the Circle was held at Brodick Country Park, on the Island of Arran; presented in partnership by Northlight Heritage, National Trust for Scotland and University of Glasgow, with an aim to gain insight into the prehistoric remains at Machrie Moor. I was joined by a number of reenactors and volunteers for the main burning night, including friends Neil Burridge and Graham Taylor. A record number of visitors enjoyed the event and the local press (Arran Banner) gave the event a two-page centre spread (below)

This experimental archaeology festival runs each year at the reconstructed Bronze Age roundhouse at Brodick Castle.

I also had the opportunity to take my new log boat for a paddle on a near-by lake
