25th February 2017: Bronze Age Casting at Pitt Rivers Museum

A number of enthusiastic people joined me for my first Bronze Age casting workshop of the year, held at the Pitt Rivers museum in Oxford.

After the initial discussion of the process and review of the tools, materials and techniques involved, the first group started to make their sandbox molds.

Outside (below), the molten bronze was carefully poured into a early Bronze Age flanged axe mold that was made during the first part of the workshop; the result was a very successfully produced axe.
